Mission Statement

  1. To see and support all church of Uganda funded schools and to ensure that our schools perform well in all areas of growth.
  2. To achieve equitable access to relevant and quality education and training;
  3. To see that all children to enrol, feel safe, and complete a high quality education that promotes lifelong learning.

The department of Education equips the people of God with knowledge, attitude, values, and skills for Christian living, growth, and service. Its goal is to empower the Church for the provision of holistic education services. The Department of Education oversees 40 Pre-primary Schools, 150 church-founded Primary Schools, 18 Secondary Schools, and one theological school.

The Department of Education interfaces with the Government’s Ministry of Education, and the District Education Office. It also provides church-founded schools with policy guidance and resources for improving educational standards.

There are thousands of children and youths who are not in schools and some are dropouts. Many cannot complete their education because of some obstacles. And for those who have reached primary level of education, more than half of them in school cannot meet minimum proficiency standards in reading and numeracy. This is where the Diocesan Education and HCT departments are trying to work on by strengthening the technical institutions we have and to come.

 The Theological College is designated to provide training for the Clergy and Lay Readers in the Diocese and beyond. It also develops curriculums for theological Education by Extension.

The Diocese intends to enhance the Education Department for a holistic transformation and development of our communities. Theological Training in Pastoral Work, Leadership, and Management have been identified as necessary for most Clergy and lay workers. This will be achieved through theological education by extension and integration of the Church and community transformation process in our theological college.

It is noted that the standards and the glory of our Schools are deteriorating due to multiple reasons. The Diocese would like to build the capacity of the stakeholders to enhance quality Education and Christian values in the Church of Uganda founded Schools.
