The Department of Health exists to promote a healthy community through Christ-centered and innovative medical and developmental interventions. Its mission is to demonstrate Christ’s love through the provision of improved health services. The Diocese through St. Luke health Centre III and 6 Oneday Health Clinics established in remote areas provide high quality medical Care at affordable rate to the rural poor in the Diocese.
The department seeks to offer church-based training in good hygiene and sanitation. Through embrace AIDS, the department is focused on promoting Church-based care to individuals, families, and, communities through psycho-social support, counseling, and home-based care for families affected by HIV/AIDS. A cross-section of church leaders was also trained in various aspects of HIV prevention and care as well as fighting stigma and discrimination.
The Lango Sub Region is plagued by a myriad of diseases. A large number of the population are dying of Malaria due to plenty of mosquitoes. The Diocese has a role to play in supporting and improving the existing health centers and where necessary establishing new ones. There is refocusing to promote good public health practices throughout the Diocese, especially in the areas of hygiene, water and sanitation, HIV AIDS prevention, Malaria, body fitness, and many others.
